I’ve always found tutorials are the best way to learn. Here are a collection of cake decorating tutorials I have written.

They are mostly easy to do. My favourite one is making Simple Fondant Roses. Another popular tutorial is Fondant Santa Figurine which explains how to make a cake topper for your Christmas cakes.

Leveling a Cake

Generally a cake will not come fresh out of the oven perfectly flat and level. Even if you have used baking strips (for more information about these, see my Secrets of the Cake Decorating Pros e-book) there will still be some kind of dome on the top of your cake.
